Coronavirus (COVID-19) and aquatics - what you need to know

Our business is about delivering health and safety for your guests in your pools, spas, fountains and splash pads. With all of the recent news surrounding the coronavirus (COVID-19), we want to let you know what this means for your water features, and how to manage through this challenging time.

Here is the latest update from the CDC, "There is no evidence that COVID-19 can be spread to humans through the use of pools and hot tubs. Proper operation, maintenance, and disinfection (e.g., with chlorine and bromine) of pools and hot tubs should remove or inactivate the virus that causes COVID-19.” The chemical automation and monitoring that VivoAquatics provides delivers guest safety and is compliant with government requirements.

A few things to keep in mind:

Recommended Guest Pool and Spa Practices

  • Remind your guests to practice basic hygiene before, during and after using the pool or spa.
    • Taking a shower in warm water, not cold or lukewarm water, before and after swimming is recommended.
    • Keeping towels, swimwear and normal clothes for changing in hygienic conditions.

Onsite Best Practices

  • While the virus doesn’t live in well-maintained water, it does linger on surfaces. Here are a few tips from the CDC to keep pools decks, chairs, ladders and other surfaces surrounding your water features safe.
  • Provide COVID-19 prevention supplies at your organization (e.g., soap, hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol, tissues, trash baskets, and a couple of disposable facemasks, just in case someone becomes sick).

Stay informed about local COVID-19 information and updates.

Our mission is to enable you to deliver the safest recreational water for your guests while maintaining government compliance. We are closely monitoring the CDC for updates.
